Ideal for use in modern recording and broadcast studios, theDIGI-TOOL F622fromLake Peopleis a distribution amplifier and digital splitter designed to deliver up to 16 wordclock or AES-iD signals for one input. The F622 features two separate 24-bit modules, both with one unbalanced BNC input and eight unbalanced BNC outputs, and can be operated as either two separate 1×8 splitters or one 1×16 splitter.
The unit features high output voltages for maintaining signal strength over very-long distances, and a high input sensitivity helps to regenerate weak input signals. The F622 also sports failsafe operation thanks to its switchable multimode power supply, which automatically detects power input and switches to the appropriate voltage between 90 and 260 VAC.
High Voltages for Strong SignalsOne of the most important features of any professional distribution amplifier is the signal strength of the output, as a strong signal is vital for high-quality broadcasts and complex digital signal routings. Oftentimes, a studio may need to feed digital signals over very-long distances, resulting in significant loss.
To address this issue, the F622 sports AGC amplifiers to produce 5 Vpp output signals for wordclock and 1 Vpp for AES-iD, more than enough to cover extremely long cable runs while maintaining optimal signal integrity. Both the inputs and outputs feature transformers for ensuring ideal signal strength, even allowing the unit to recover (regenerate) lost signal strength when receiving weak input signals.
Two Distinct Modules, One Elegant DesignThe F622 is a rack-mountable distribution splitter that can be a vital asset for any broadcast studio or recording facility. With two separate modules, the F622 can feed two separate S/PDIF sync data streams via wordclock or AES-iD to multiple destinations.
These functions are aided by the following:
- Jumpers for switching the output impedance from 75 to 50 ohms to drive improper wordclock inputs
- Jumpers to switch to AES-iD operation
- Jumpers that switch to Superclock 256 Fs
- Unbalanced BNC sockets with high input sensitivity and output voltages
- Clear LEDs for indicating if a module is active or no input signal is detected
